OFF GRID YURT | Crystal Creek
The off grid yurt was commissioned as a temporary venue for events & workshops whilst our architects design a more substantial sanctuary on the property. Balanced Earth assembled the yurt supplied by the client and designed & built the surrounding structure and amenities.
Tallowood decking and a mixed hardwood floor sit atop a substructure built from recycled timber.
An ancillary building alongside the yurt houses compost toilets for guests.
The off grid yurt is powered by a full solar array.
The panels were positioned nearby in the field as opposed to the roof to maximise sun exposure and to accomodate the yurt's load bearing ability.
Surefoot foundations allowed us to avoid the use of concrete completely.
